3D Builder

About 3dbuilder.cc

A useful Windows app, kept easy to find

Microsoft 3D Builder is a free Windows application for viewing, repairing, editing, creating and converting 3D models. It is especially handy for preparing STL and 3MF files for 3D printing - automatic mesh repair, splitting large models, resizing, Boolean operations, embossing, hollowing, smoothing and file conversion, all through a simple, familiar interface.

Why this site exists

3dbuilder.cc is an independent resource for people who use 3D Builder in real 3D printing, making and teaching workflows. The goal is simple: one tidy place to download 3D Builder for Windows and learn how to get the best results, from repairing an STL to splitting a model or embossing a label. The file we point to is the genuine 3D Builder package - nothing is re-packaged, wrapped in our own installer, or padded with extras.

What happened to the Store version

3D Builder was once distributed through the Microsoft Store, but Microsoft stopped active development and the Store no longer installs it. The original Microsoft Store listing may still appear, but the app can no longer be downloaded or installed from there. This site preserves a direct download and the documentation the application still deserves.

Free, with no catch

3D Builder was released by Microsoft as a free application. There is no subscription, no account and no recurring payment, and its core editing and conversion features work offline once installed. We keep the lights on with advertising rather than charging for the download.
